Here are 3 ways to get involved! 〰️
#1 Become an Art Docent
What is an ARTPOP “Art Docent”?
Being a volunteer Art Docent is easy and fun! It is a wonderful way to get involved in the classroom, encourage an appreciation of the arts, and share your talents and interests with your school community!
It is a great opportunity to get in your child's classroom and have an interactive experience with all the children in the class! You may choose to have a class discussion about the artwork or do a related craft/activity. The possibilities are endless!
ARTPOP thrives because of dedicated volunteers, including the following roles:
ARTPOP School Representative – Each member school has one or more Representatives. The following Representative responsibilities can be shared among several volunteers:
Attend monthly ARTPOP Board meetings held in Ridgewood, NJ, and serve as a liaison to your school, and relays valuable information.
Recruit and support Classroom Art Docents for your school
Coordinate Painting and Special Collection rotations for your school
Relay and promote ARTPOP special events and contests at your school.
#2 Become your School’s Representative
ARTPOP :
Board Members – be a part of a fun group of volunteers as VP, Secretary, Treasurer, or even President! ARTPOP always needs new ideas, energy and enthusiasm...art is classic but dynamic, and our Board needs to be too!!
Painting Collection Coordinator – picks up the school’s first two painting collections, packs up one painting collection (on 4-6 different Wednesdays per year), unpacks and hangs the new painting collection (the following day, e.g. Thursday), and returns the school’s two painting collections at the end of the year.
Artifact Collection Coordinator – picks up the school’s first artifact collection, packs up the collection (on 3 different Thursdays per year), unpacks and sets up the new special collection, and returns the artifact collection at the end of the year.
Event Chairs/Staff – support various arts-related events that ARTPOP hosts through the school year, including the ARTboretum, Shakespeare Faire & Performance, author visits, guest performing acts, and other special events.
Resources Committee – gather and organize classroom projects and presentations previously done by other Art Docents from member schools, and help get them centralized in a useful, easy to access format for future Art Docents to research and utilize.
Social Media – help us manage our regional Social Media presence (eg. Facebook) where many of our Art Docents go to keep up-to-date with events, and exchange classroom projects and ideas with each other.
